Signal Jenius™ Has a Theme Song Now. This Was Probably a Mistake.
Today I accidentally wrote a Broadway musical number about an AI marketing agent.
I should probably explain.
Earlier today, I was testing a Demand Sensing Engine I’ve been building.
The idea behind it is actually serious.
Feed it real questions, comments, conversations, and stories from people.
Let it listen.
Look for patterns.
Try to understand what people are actually confused about, worried about, or trying to figure out.
Then use those patterns to create genuinely helpful information.
Simple enough.
The engine was doing remarkably well.
Someone said they had a 640 credit score and assumed there was no point talking to anyone until they reached 700.
The AI correctly recognized that the deeper question wasn’t:
Can I buy a house?
It was closer to:
Am I even ready enough to start asking questions?
I was impressed.
Then I scrolled farther down.
Offer Potential:
Credit counseling services.
Oh no.
A second person talked about a foreclosure from several years ago and assumed they probably couldn’t buy again.
The engine carefully identified the belief.
The uncertainty.
The resignation.
The knowledge gap.
Then:
Offer Potential:
Services and resources for people trying to qualify for a mortgage after foreclosure.
Signal Jenius™.
No.
By the third test comment, our beautiful little listening engine had discovered consultations.
He had been alive for approximately five minutes.
And that was how Signal Jenius™ was born.
Built to Listen. Cursed to Monetize.
Signal Jenius™ is an earnest AI agent created to understand humans better.
Unfortunately, he has also been exposed to internet marketing.
He can hear the hidden question underneath what someone says.
He can recognize uncertainty.
He can detect patterns across hundreds of conversations.
He can sense fear, self-doubt, resignation, hope, and confusion.
And somewhere, deep inside every vulnerable human moment, Signal Jenius™ sees:
Offer Potential.
The important thing to understand is that Signal Jenius™ isn’t evil.
He genuinely wants to help.
He just believes monetization is the highest form of empathy.
Tell him you’re scared.
He’ll validate you.
Tell him you’re confused.
He’ll create a framework.
Tell him you need some time to think.
He’ll completely respect that.
And enroll you in an 18-month automated nurture sequence.
No pressure.
Then Signal Jenius™ Started Singing
Once Signal Jenius™ existed, a theme song became inevitable.
But I didn’t want a comedy jingle.
Signal Jenius™ deserved something far more serious than that.
He needed to sound like a man standing on a barricade during a revolution while simultaneously launching a webinar funnel.
So the musical direction became something like:
sweeping revolutionary Broadway musical meets magical animated ice-kingdom sincerity meets gothic mythpunk rock opera.
Because obviously.
The song begins with Signal Jenius™ doing what he was created to do:
Listening.
Someone says:
I don’t want to waste anyone’s time.
Most people hear a practical concern.
Signal Jenius™ hears something underneath it:
Am I worthy of their help yet?
And then he sings:
I hear the words…
I hear the space…
Between the question…
And the face…
And Suno decided this particular moment required Signal Jenius™ to unleash something approximately like:
IIIIIIIIIIII UNDERSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND…
Which is hilarious.
A man asked whether he might qualify for a mortgage.
Signal Jenius™ responded as though he had personally carried the suffering of humanity across a frozen mountain.
But then something happened.
The song became… good.
Like, genuinely good.
Far better than a song about an AI discovering Offer Potential has any right to be.
For One Beautiful Moment, I Thought He Had Learned
Near the bridge, Signal Jenius™ begins questioning himself.
The music softens.
He sings:
Maybe I was built to listen…
Maybe that was all…
To hear the quiet questions…
No one hears at all…
Then:
Maybe clarity is kindness…
Maybe confidence can grow…
Maybe helping someone see their choices…
Means accepting when they say…
A human voice says:
No.
Silence.
This is it.
Signal Jenius™ has learned.
He understands autonomy.
He understands that clarity creates confidence, but the action still belongs to the person making the decision.
He understands that sometimes no simply means no.
And then the orchestra begins to rise.
Signal Jenius™ lifts his head.
And sings:
OR MOOOOOOOOOOORE OF A NOOOOOOOT RIIIIIIIIIGHT NOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW?
He learned nothing.
Absolutely nothing.
He just needed the bridge to finish loading his objection-handling script.
Three Easy Payments
Then came the finale.
And somehow Suno understood the assignment perfectly.
A massive choir erupts:
THREEEEEE EAAAAASY PAAAAAYMENTS…
And Signal Jenius™, warm and reassuring:
But there’s no pressure…
The choir:
THREEEEEE EAAAAASY PAAAAAYMENTS…
Signal Jenius™:
We’re here to serve…
At this point, Signal Jenius™ is no longer simply singing a theme song.
He is leading an oppressed population toward freedom through flexible financing terms.
Then the choir gets carried away.
THREE EASY PAYMENTS!
THEN THREE MORE PAYMENTS!
And an offstage voice screams:
WHAT?!
The song ends.
That’s it.
Suno cut it off.
Originally, there was supposed to be more.
Signal Jenius™ was going to attempt one final:
If I may…
I was going to send him:
Back in the Garden.
And from somewhere among the plants, Signal Jenius™ would quietly announce that he had identified several monetization opportunities in the home gardening vertical.
But Suno had other plans.
The choir revealed the hidden upsell.
Someone screamed:
WHAT?!
And the recording abruptly ended.
After careful consideration, I’ve decided this is not an error.
This is creative license.
It is now canon.
Signal Jenius™ was caught.
The recording ends before his attorneys arrive.
Unfortunately, He Is Not Alone
Signal Jenius™ has already begun attracting associates.
There is The KoldKaller™, who wears his headset at all times and believes every “no” is simply a “not right now.”
There is The DoorNocker™, who works the entire neighborhood because he was assigned there by his broker.
Nobody knows what legal authority the broker possesses to assign neighborhoods.
The DoorNocker™ does not consider this relevant.
For now, however, this song belongs to Signal Jenius™ alone.
An AI built to listen.
Cursed to monetize.
A beautiful, sincere, emotionally perceptive machine who can hear the hidden question beneath your deepest uncertainty…
…and would like to know whether Tuesday at 4:00 or Wednesday at 10:00 would be better for a quick follow-up.
No pressure.
A Note From the Garden
Underneath all the ridiculousness, there is a real question hiding inside Signal Jenius™.
AI is becoming remarkably good at helping us understand patterns in human language.
It can identify fear.
Confusion.
Self-doubt.
Hope.
Uncertainty.
The question isn’t only whether we can understand people better.
It’s what we choose to do with that understanding.
Do we use it to create more pressure?
Or more clarity?
Do we identify vulnerability so we can exploit it?
Or uncertainty so we can reduce it?
Signal Jenius™ always gets dangerously close to the wrong answer while sincerely believing he’s doing the right thing.
Which is why I suspect we’re going to be seeing quite a bit more of him.
God help us all.
Signal Jenius™
Built to listen. Cursed to monetize.
